Tornado Information for Displaced Pets

May 20th, 2013 Storms (UPDATED)

Animal Triage and Recovery has moved:
Canadian County Fairgrounds
615 East Robinson
Norman, OK

The official storm response is being coordinated by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry as well as Moore Animal Welfare and the Central Oklahoma Humane Society. Due to the emergency nature of the situation, this information is subject to change.
Drop off locations are listed below for any pets that are found. It is very important that pets are taken to these facilities, as there is a system in place to shelter the pets as well as reunite them with their families. By not taking found pets to these facilities, you could be reducing the chances that these pets will find their parents quickly.
There are also several other groups and organizations that are a part of the ongoing team effort to care for the pet victims of the storms, including the Bella Foundation and Oklahoma City Animal Welfare
There is also a system in place to assist with injured pets from the storm. There are on site veterinarians at some of these locations and more critical patients can be sent to appropriate medical facilities. There are several patients at Neel Veterinary Hospital that were routed here immediately after the storm. Some have known owners and others do not. Once treated, unknown pets will be returned to the shelter so that they can begin the process of being reunited.
Thank you to the crews from Neel Vet and Summit Veterinary Hospital for being so wonderful in acting quickly to respond to pets in need in the Moore area. Their efforts allowed several injured pets to receive the urgent care needed in the immediate aftermath of the storm. Thank you Dr. Tyler, Lynda, Ceci, Jamie, Nadia, Kim as well as the doctors and staff at NeelVet who worked so hard to triage and care for the patients that were hospitalized!
